Suveren2use

Our teams are continuously involved in research projects in cooperation with other top research organizations such as universities, research institutes or industrial researchers. Such projects may be executed in bilateral cooperation or in multiple partner consortia. The most recent research project is the SUVEREN2use project , supported by the German government and focusing on safety of Lithium-Ion batteries from their production up to recycling.

Research Project SUVERENStorage (2022)

In 2022, full-scale fire tests on fire protection for stationary battery energy storage systems (BESS) were conducted as part of the independent research project SUVERENStorage. The test set-up was based on a real application using a 20′ overseas container with lithium-ion batteries as fire load. Water-based and gaseous suppression agents as well as various detection systems were compared. A test using high-pressure water mist, accompanied by TÜV, was evaluated as successful. Based on the findings, a white paper with recommendations on fire protection for energy storage facilities was developed.

Research Project SUVEREN4Depots (2023)

SUVEREN4Depots is an independent research project and is based on the public funded research projects SUVEREN and SUVEREN2use. The objective of the project was the safety on bus depots, with a special focus on electric buses.
FOGTEC Brandschutz GmbH, University of Wuppertal, Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, IFAB Institute for Applied Fire Safety, the STUVA e.V. and the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) were partners in the research consortium.

Solit Supported

Research Project SOLIT2

Partners in the aforesaid projects included among others University of Wuppertal, University of Bochum, Fraunhofer Institute Goslar, Bundesmaterial Prüfanstalt, STUVA, TÜV Süd, IFAB, Lobbe and BUNG Engineers. Beyond these, FOGTEC is co-operating with multiple other expert organizations.

The Project UPTUN was a large scale consortium project on tunnel safety supported by the European Union.
