For the first time, the FOGTEC team was able to hand over a water mist system for a semi-automatic parking system in an underground car park.
This system is particularly pioneering, as it was integrated into the moving modules of the car park and also offers special protection for battery-powered cars. Findings from the SUVEREN and SUVEREN2use research projects on battery fires funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research were directly implemented here.
The FOGTEC water mist system cools the area around the cars parked very close to each other particularly effectively and thus reduces the temperatures significantly more than a conventional sprinkler system. In addition, considerably less water is used. This significantly reduces the amount of water required and therefore the amount of contaminated water produced.
It is particularly important that considerable proportions of corrosive and highly toxic flue gases can be washed out by the high-pressure water mist.
