Fire safety when storing lithium-ion batteries

Technical article examines fire safety for lithium-ion batteries

The latest technical article on ingenieur.de examines fire safety in the storage of lithium-ion batteries.

Globally, the number of fires in warehouses and storage facilities is increasing due to the growing use of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). This is a topic that the SUVEREN2use research project also addressed until February 2026. As part of the project, large-scale fire tests were conducted on a scale that is unique worldwide. These tests, conducted in a high-bay warehouse under real-world conditions, demonstrated the requirements for an effective fire containment strategy.
