Protection of Diesel Powerpacks
Sustainable Solutions for Sustainable Mobility
More than 2000 diesel powerpacks worldwide are already equipped with FOGTEC systems
Proven technology with over 25.000 delivered rail systems worldwide
Whether installed under the vehicle or on the roof, FOGTEC systems are used in many diesel power packs. The special challenges posed by the often open-flow application, which is therefore freely accessible to the airstream while driving, require extensive experience in the selection and arrangement of components for a fire detection and firefighting system. The airstream has a significant impact on the overall system in terms of detection time and assured functionality. Due to the FOGTEC team’s experience with diesel power packs since 2003, they can draw on a comprehensive pool of knowledge for the correct dimensioning and design for each individual application.

FAQ – Fire Protection in Diesel Power Packs
What are the main challenges with diesel powerpacks?
Yes, FOGTEC water mist is approved for use up to 35,000 V in accordance with EN 3-7. However, switching off the affected structure in accordance with EN 45545-6 is required regardless of the extinguishing medium and must be taken into account.
How does FOGTEC ensure fire protection in compact powerpack areas?
By using high-pressure water mist, which distributes evenly even in confined structures and reliably protects critical components.
Can existing powerpacks be retrofitted with the system?
Yes, the systems are modular and can be easily integrated into existing vehicles.
What advantages does water mist offer compared to other extinguishing agents?
No damage to technical equipment or electronics, minimal water consumption, and rapid cooling through fine mist droplets.
