Optimum droplet spectrum due to high pressure between 50 and 200 bar
Water Mist
100% eco-friendly, highest efficiency
FOGTEC water mist systems fight fires with smallest droplets of just water. No chemicals are required, no additives.
The amount of water used, thus any potential water damage caused, are minimal. FOGTEC water mist is 100% safe for people, animals and plants. And still: For many applications water mist systems are superior in their efficiency in firefighting compared to other technologies.
The basic idea of water mist, thus splitting up water to use water for firefighting more effective, has been developed over 100 years ago. For details see:
How FOGTEC Water Mist works
Water mist fights fire with mainly the following two effects:
The atomisation of water generates a huge reaction surface and therefore results into extremely efficient cooling. Great amounts of heat and energy of the fire are absorbed rapidly. The cooling effect works against the spread of the fire and reduces the effect of heat on people, structures and other assets. The heat radiation is effectively reduced by the small droplets.

The tiny water mist doplets rapidly turn into steam when reaching the vicinity of the fire. By this, the volume of the water is increasing 1650-fold, thus displacing the oxygen required for the combustion process. Important is that the oxygen displacing takes place only in areas heated up – close to the fire. People can therefore safely breathe in the water mist in other areas.
The transition into steam at the same time further absorbs massive amounts of the energy of the fire.

Advantages of FOGTEC Water Mist
FOGTEC water mist consists of tiny water droplets for firefighting
Classification of FOGTEC Water Mist
FOGTEC uses water mist of Class I according to NFPA 750, having the smallest droplet size distribution and thereby generating the largest reaction surface per litre of water applied. FOGTEC systems are of the High pressure type, working with pressures of 50 to 200 bar. The high pressure provides at the nozzles sufficient energy to split up the water into smallest droplets and to accelerate the droplets for their way towards the fire and against uprising heat / smoke.
Why High Pressure?
It’s pure physics: The higher pressure means higher energy being available for splitting up the water and to provide momentum to the resulting tiny droplets. If the pressure would be lowered, either the droplets generated would be larger or would have less momentum – in most cases both apply.
Independent research studies have shown that low pressure water mist systems are less efficient in reducing the heat release rate (energy output) of a fire and its emissions like CO2, CO, NOX, CxHYn and HCN.
ESG Aspects
Du to its eco-friendliness, water saving and protective properties as well as its re-usability of major parts, FOGTEC water mist offers its users gains in their ESG rating.
