Retrofitting a fire protection system into an existing building is always a challenge, especially if it is a listed building, as is the case with this particular project.
In the new Edeka supermarket in the historic pedestrian zone in Regensburg, the sales areas on two floors, the stairwells, the basement and the storage rooms are now protected by a FOGTEC high-pressure water mist fire suppression system. This offers the optimal solution for small spatial capacities, as the low water consumption means that only small diameter pipework and a compact water tank are required. The system was specially adapted to the requirements of the project, with all pipes and nozzles painted in an unobtrusive black colour and the tank welded directly on site due to the limited space available.
The fire protection system was successfully commissioned in October and the Edeka store opened its doors to its first customers in November.
