Protection of battery warehouses

During their life battery cells are often stored. This may be during production, their combination to modules and batteries, their shipping and at the end of their life prior and during their recycling. During these periods of storing they are not controlled or monitored by and battery management systems (BMS). Any defect and a resulting thermal runaway most likely will not be detected in time but only after the event has grown to size having affected the surrounding. Further, in such periods batteries are often located in direct vicinity to other batteries multiplying the potential fire load in case of an incident. Reliable and safe protection of the related production and storage areas is therefore of utmost importance.

The LiSaPro Sense off gas detection is easy to install and can be positioned at multiple spots around and within the protected areas to sniff smallest amounts of off gases very early, often well before a thermal runaway has reached its full size. Triggered by the LiSa-Pro Sens units or a separate smoke or heat detection system a fast acting FOGTEC water mist system of the LiSaPro-Cool series will be activated thus creating instantly a high cooling and smoke washing effect. This works against the propagation of the fire and reduces contamination significantly. The system works with ventilation transporting away explosive and toxic gases. Assets like buildings and machinery are protected, evacuation enhanced and access for emergency forces enabled.
