Flexible, space-saving, uncomplicated
Modular data centers range from single mobile units to scalable modules that can be combined into larger buildings or fully integrated data centers.
Thanks to their scalability, high-pressure water mist systems are an ideal fit for these applications. Integrated energy storage systems can also be protected, and personnel access within the modules (e.g., workstations) poses no problem. Pressure relief vents and room enclosures are no longer required.
of the water volume used by traditional sprinklers is needed by high-pressure water mist systems – drastically reducing water demand and damage.
of water damage can be avoided by using high-pressure water mist instead of traditional sprinkler systems.
For this purpose, we developed the FOGTEC SafetyUnit. This compact container houses all fire protection components outside the data center module, saving valuable space. Multiple modules can be connected to a single SafetyUnit, which can be flexibly positioned on-site. The fully equipped unit includes high-pressure pumps, control cabinet, compressor, fire detection panel, and the LiSa system.
A completely self-sufficient version is also available, independent of mains power and water supply, with up to 60 minutes of operational runtime.
The FOGTEC SafetyUnit is delivered as a plug-and-play solution, ready to install. On-site, only piping and nozzles need to be connected. Leasing options are also available upon request.

FAQ – Fire Protection in Modular Data Centers
Why are high-pressure water mist systems suitable for modular data centers?
Short answer: They atomize water finely, cool quickly, and use minimal water — effectively protecting IT equipment while being easily scalable across modules.
Note: System design (nozzle layout, pumps, detection) must be project-specific.Can they also protect energy storage systems (ESS)?
Short answer: Yes — water mist can remove heat and limit fire spread. FOGTEC provides specialized solutions for this purpose.
Note: Battery fire scenarios are complex and often require additional measures and testing. Are pressure relief panels or strict room enclosures still required?
Short answer: Not necessarily — water mist often allows simplified room concepts.
Note: Whether panels or enclosures can be omitted depends on the specific fire protection concept and applicable regulations. What is the FOGTEC SafetyUnit?
Short answer: A compact pump and control container that houses all fire protection components outside the modules (plug-and-play). According to your information, an autonomous version exists with up to 60 minutes of operation. Only piping and nozzles need to be installed on-site.
Note: The number of modules connected, actual runtime, and system performance must be verified for each project (datasheet / hydraulic calculation).
