In November FOGTEC participated at the „Mass Transit Innovation“ in Chiba/Japan in connection with the EU’s funding program “ EU-Gateway to Japan”. Together with 43 other Small and Medium Enterprises, FOGTEC presented itself at the EU-Pavilion. The fair is the largest regional event in this sector and enjoys a very high status in the local market. It takes place only every two years. FOGTEC, represented by the managing director of Rail Systems Roger –A. Dirksmeier, was invited by the fair organization to take an active part in the opening on 27.11.2019. At the ceremony, the ribbon was cut by representatives from Japanese politics and the Japanese Association and the EU Director Marzena Rogalska (DG Grow).

Stadler KISS
Besides the FLIRT DMU (Diesel Multiple Units) and the EMU-vehicles (Electric-Multiple-Units) for Slovenia, a FOGTEC System will be installed in the Stadler KISS Doublestack vehicles as well. The series 3000+ (BIL) shows here its outstanding flexibility, as it enables the linkage between DMU, EMU and KISS.
Activated high pressure water mist system in a full scale fire test in a tunnel

Despite rumours that the visibility with an activated mist system is limited, the visibility remains good, as shown in the video. Even if the visibility with an activated fire fighting system is reduced, fire fighters can maintain orientation and evacuated pedestrians can easily find the emergency exits. In a series of full scale fire tests, fire brigades and persons involved assessed the visibility as sufficient and reported a good orientation ability in the water mist. After activation the amount of smoke will be reduced significantly, leading to an improvement of the visibility and safe evacuation.
