FOGTEC system for new sleeping cars of the Österreichische Bundesbahn

Series 5000

The Österreichische Bundesbahn (ÖBB; Austrian Federal Railways) is further expanding its range of sleeping cars with the new ÖBB Railjet and Nightjet of the new generation (ÖBB RJ-NJ), which are produced by Siemens. Since the vehicles are a passenger car concept in which the individual cars can be combined as desired, special flexibility is also required for the fire protection solution. Therefore, the modular based, and highly flexible Series 5000, the latest development by FOGTEC for rail transport, is used. 21 sets, 13 of them as night trains and 8 as day trains are equipped with the FOGTEC fire detection and fire fighting system. The trains are to be put into service from 2022, and, in the first phase, will operate in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.

Low Maintenance Costs

The Institute for Applied Fire Safety Research (IFAB) in Berlin, Germany, has published an article about the maintenance and servicing of water mist systems in road tunnels. The article underlines that maintenance costs of such systems can be calculated very accurately in advance. Contrary to individual opinions from the market, the maintenance costs for water mist systems are low. In the case study of the article, the annual maintenance costs are only around 1.5% of the investment costs for the fire-fighting system. The article can be found here. LA CAIXA Bank is getting equipped with FOGTEC system

Madrid, Spain

FOGTEC has extended its customer base of world-renowned banks, with a first installation at LA CAIXA bank, in Spain. A FOGTEC system is currently being installed for the protection of the power supply in two buildings, part of a new data centre building for the bank in Torija-Guadalajara (near Madrid). Amongst others, the transformers, power distribution rooms and generators of the data centre are protected. We congratulate our partner Protec for this reference project.
