Old County Hall in Moers, Germany

Protection of a historical monument

The Old County Hall was built in 1898 – 1900 as seat of the district administration in Moers. The building is a listed historical monument, both the outside and the inside of the building are protected.  The Old County Hall has been completely renovated from the basement to the attic over the last two years to preserve the building as a public and a cultural venue. The renovation works will finish in summer 2018. In the course of refurbishment, a comprehensive FOGTEC water mist system implementing automatic nozzles with glass bulb release has been installed, protecting all 5 floors of the historical monument.

IMechE Railway Challenge

Team of FH Aachen sponsored by FOGTEC

The IMechE (Institution of Mechanical Engineers) Railway Challenge will be held from 29th June to 1st July this year at the Stapleford Miniature Railway near Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. 11 teams of students and apprentices will compete against each other to design and manufacture the best, most innovative, efficient and quietest small-scale locomotive in accordance with a set of strict rules and a detailed technical specification. FOGTEC is sponsoring the team of the University of Applied Sciences of Aachen, Germany, to support the next generation of railway engineers to showcase their skills, expertise and knowledge regarding the development of innovative railway transportation of the future.

EU Light Rail Conference

17 - 18 May, Tram Museum Brussels

FOGTEC will give a paper on Smart Concepts for fire protection of underground metro stations at the EU Light Rail Conference in the historical Tram Museum in Brussels. The presentation will be supplemented by a live demonstration of a water mist firefighting vehicle. We are looking forward to discussing our innovative concepts at our booth at the venue‘s exhibition. The exciting two-day event is taking place for the first time this year and deals with the role of technology and innovation in the development of sustainable urban travel.
